DRIVE HEADS

The Eimco-KCP Drive heads for Clarifiers and Thickeners

The drive head is the heart of the Clarifier mechanism. The present design of Eimco-KCP Drive heads is a result of careful study and experience gained over 25 years of operation in the Sedimentation equipments operating in various Chemical Industries, Water Treatment Plants, Sewage and Effluent Treatment Plants under severe operating conditions.

A Sedimentation drive generally operates at a relatively low value of output torque in a well-operated installation. As long gas the solids input equals the solids output from the mechanism, torque will begin to climb and the alarm on the drive control will actuate to warm the operator to take corrective action.

Three types of drives are generally used for Clarifier and Thickener Mechanism.

"W" SERIES DRIVE

"B" SERIES DRIVE

"C" SERIES DRIVE

Eimco-KCP Drive Heads have been engineered to assure:

*

Adequate output torque

*

Maximum service life

*

Support for the mechanism and its operating loads.

*

Reliable overload protection.

*

Optimum rotation speed for each service requirement.

*

Allowance for lift capability.

Main features of Eimco thickeners and clarifiers are:

1.

Drive Heads upto 1 500 000 Nm, using High Precision Ring Gears are standard on large EKCP Thickeners.

2.
Proven design extended to all drive head sizes.
3.
Designs available for both bridge and center pier mounting.
4.
Increased torque capacity.
5.
Reliable and adjustable torque sensing.
6.
Torque sensing by electronic main drive slip sensor with fixed high torque alarm and motor cut off valves but with adjustable rake raise torque value.
7.
Fully automatic rake lifting. The EKCP system raises and lowers rakes automatically, depending on the load in the thickener. The rakes will rise only to the height required to relieve the high torque, and will automatically inch down.
8.
EKCP Clarifiers use the filtering action of the mud bed to produce overflows very low in suspended solids, 20-50ppm clarity is common.
9.
In-drive system consist of in-line, high efficiency epicyclic gearbox and main motor.
